RYE, N.Y. -- Westchester has hired engineers to design the county's capital projects to refurbish and upgrade Playland Park. Mount Vernon Firefighter Instagram Poster Suspended
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Mount Vernon firefighter who allegedly made Instagram comments after the Dallas police killings calling for killing more police has been suspended, according to News 12.Lt. Omar Lanier is accused of using the social media account under the name “Live Republic,” according to News 12, which reported that the controversial post said, in part, “Hooray for Dallas and the real gangstas who took the shots.” The Instagram post, which has since been removed, also called for people to “Let’s keep it going,” according to News 12. Poughkeepse Community Day Draws Crowds
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Many visitors were drawn to the free Community Day Celebration in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported. Bardavon was host of the free Upper Saddle River Park Community Day Celebration that featured food and entertainment, including a petting zoo. “It’s fun,” Eric Ashburn, of Poughkeepsie, told the Poughkeepsie Journal. “It’s great to be able to come down to the park and experience all the multicultural entertainment." Woman Killed In Crash Identified As Stratford Dispatcher
STRATFORD, Conn. -- The person killed Monday in a fatal Stratford crash has been identified as 35-year-old Stratford dispatcher Laura Price, according to the Stratford Star. Price, a Seymour resident, was an emergency dispatcher for eight years in Stratford, said the Stratford Star. She previously worked with the Pine Rock Park Fire Department in Shelton and with the Shelton Police Department. Price had been going north on Main Street just past 12 a.m. when her vehicle veered into the southbound lane and hit a tree, according to the Stratford Star.
