Jewish Family Services To Honor Westport Residents
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Westport resident Linda Russ and Stamford resident Sandy Speter will be honored as part of Jewish Family Services' 37th Annual Mitzvah Awards on Sunday, May 15.The event and the 8th annual Auction will take place at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road, in Stamford, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The evening is set to feature a dinner and both a silent and live auction. Items will include theater tickets, Disney Park tickets, Judaica, jewelry, art, vacations, and New York Yankee tickets.

Louis E. Lemak, 68, Longtime Poughkeepsie Resident
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Poughkeepsie resident Louis E. Lemak died Wednesday, May 4. He was 68.
A Poughkeepsie native, Lemak served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 203 in Beacon.
He also worked for Blocksum in Poughkeepsie as a machine operator.
Lemak is survived by his wife, Emilia A. (Straley); his brother, Richard C. Lemak Sr., and wife, Maria; two nieces; and six nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Rosalyn Gordon; and his parents, Louis Thomas Lemak and Dorothy Margaret Perrine Lemak.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Poughkeepsie resident Samuel "Sammy" Whitted died Sunday, May 1. He was 78.
Whitted moved to Poughkeepsie as a teenager and worked as an independent contractor for construction, demolition and landscaping.
He married Geraldine (Nicholas) Whitted, who predeceased him in 2001.

Valerie P. Evans, 56, Longtime Elmsford Resident
ELMSFORD, N.Y. — Longtime Elmsford resident Valerie P. Evans died Monday, May 2. She was 56.
Evans was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Mildred Evans.
Visitation was scheduled for Saturday, May 7, from 8:45-9:45 a.m., immediately followed by the funeral at 10 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 145 N. Lawn Ave., Elmsford.
Interment was to take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.

MAMARONECK, N.Y. — Mamaroneck resident Antonietta Maiolo died Tuesday, May 3. She was 94.
A native of Fabrizia, Italy, Maiolo worked for many years touching up photos for Hospital Baby Portraits.
Maiolo is survived by sons, Serafino "Sal" Maiolo and his wife Norma, Joseph Maiolo and his wife Linda; her daughter, Rosanna Maiolo; her siblings, Nazareno Albanese, Titina Albanese and Stellina Plati, four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband, Luigi Maiolo; a son, Frank Maiolo; and her parents, Giuseppe and Maria Victoria Albanese.

HARTSDALE, N.Y. — Hartsdale resident Saranne Chayefsky died Wednesday, May 4. She was 92.
She was born Feb. 13, 1924, to Louis and Pearl Cohen,
Chayefsky is survived by her, daughters, Helen Chayefsky and Laurie Keenan and husband Charles; grandson Aaron Keenan and his wife Deborah; granddaughter Meryl Bash and her husband Kirill; grandson Matthew Keenan and his wife Anne; and great-grandchildren Wesley, Paxton, Samuel and Holden.
