More Than 400 Finish Second Annual Kisco 5K In Mount Kisco MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – The second annual Kisco 5k run was held on an overcast morning on Sunday as 406 out of 450 entrants were able to finish the race. Officials attended the run, including Mayor Michael Cindrich and Village Trustee Jean Farber along with Linda Cooper, the Taconic Regional Director of the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, representing Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Tim Kuklis was the overall leader, finishing the run in 17 minutes and 28 seconds, while Jenna Holt was the top finishing woman at 20 minutes and 19 seconds. Adopt A Pet For Reduced Fee At Putnam Humane Society PUTNAM, N.Y. – The Putnam Humane Society will host a reduced-fee adoption event at its office beginning Thursday. Plans are to reduce adoption fees by 50 percent during the five days from Thursday through Tuesday. The fees cover spaying and neutering, a free vet visit, microchipping, rabies and distemper vaccinations and other included items. Family Mourns Yonkers College Student At Wake YONKERS, N.Y. – The Yonkers family of Eyyad Amargi, killed in an automobile accident on Thursday night, celebrated his life in a wake on Sunday, according to Fios1. Almargi, 24, was killed on Thursday night attempting to cross Melville Road in Suffolk County. He was moving into the Farmingdale State College dorms to continue his studies in construction technology, reported Fios1. Two More Alternates Allowed On Teaneck Zoning Board TEANECK, N.J. – The Teaneck Township Council officially amended the township's Zoning Board Of Adjustment at its Sept. 12 meeting to allow for four alternates instead of two, reported NorthJersey.com. Alternates serve for two years, and are intended to be present at meetings when regular members are absent. Despite the official change, the practice had been informally in effect for some time, NorthJersey.com reported. Retired Firefighter's Family Seeks Answers In Dutchess Cycling Accident UNION VALE, N.Y. – The family of a victim of a cycling accident in Union Vale is still seeking answers two weeks later, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. John M. Dunn, 66, a retired Yonkers firefighter, was found with serious injuries on the morning of Sept. 6 on Bloomer Road in Union Vale. No damage to his bike or the helmet he was wearing occurred, reports the Journal. He remains unconscious in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center, and state police have put out a public plea for more information.
