Death Of Teacher At Staples High In Westport Ruled A Suicide WESTPORT, Conn. – The death of a Staples High School teacher on Saturday has been ruled a suicide, according to the Westport News. The death of 27-year old English teacher Cody Thomas, who lived in Fairfield, is the third in the Staples community this school year, the News said. Freshman Christopher Lanni committed suicide last month, and school counselor Chris Lemone died in October, the Westport News reported. Man Charged With Driving While Impaired After I-684 Crash SOUTHEAST, N.Y. – A Connecticut man was arrested by New York State Police on driving while intoxicated charges after an accident on Interstate 684 on Wednesday. After a two-car collision at the Southeast rest stop, officers arrested 38-year-old Paul Iannacone of Torrington, Conn., on a charge of operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs. No one was injured in the crash. Iannacone was ticketed and will appear in Southeast Town Court on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Repairs To Route 94 In Wappinger Will Cause Lane Closure WAPPINGER, N.Y. – Starting Monday, Dutchess County will shut down a lane on Route 94 for about two weeks to fix a collapsed sewer line in Wappinger, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. The work is expected to last until Feb. 5, the Journal said. Delays are expected as the county will have a stretch of road between Cider Mill Loop and Edge Hill Drive down to one lane, reported the Poughkeepsie Journal. Man Charged With DWI, Marijuana Possession In Dover DOVER, N.Y. – A Connecticut man was arrested by New York State Police for driving while intoxicated and possessing marijuana early Tuesday morning in Dover. James Holihan, 25, of Shelton, Conn., was arrested when state troopers discovered him sleeping in his vehicle in a CVS parking lot around 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday morning. He was charged after police found 2.8 grams of marijuana on him and blew a breath sample of .13 blood alcohol content for authorities. Holihan appeared in Dover Justice Court on Thursday to answer to the charges.

Nor'easter Leads To Accident-Filled Saturday For Ramapo Police RAMAPO, N.J. – The Ramapo Police Department dealt with a busy Saturday due to the Nor'easter including 12 car accidents. One accident had a minor injury, and four were hit-and-run accidents. Two occurred on Saddle River Road-Chestnut Ridge, and two more occurred on Viola Road. Only one arrest happened, for a domestic dispute between two brothers that ended with one being arrested for choking the other. In total, there were 72 calls for service, including seven for medical emergencies not related to the weather.
