2-Year-Old Killed In White Plains Fire ID'ed WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – White Plains authorities have identified the 2-year old girl who was killed in a house fire on Saturday morning, according to News 12. Lalayjah Pearson was staying with her grandparents on Nutgrove Street when the fire occurred. Isaac Nelson McKnight was charged with a first-degree criminal sexual act related to the incident, which allegedly occurred Nov. 5. WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A 3-year-old girl pulled out of a White Plains home fire by firefighters on Saturday morning has died in the hospital, according to multiple reports. The girl and her grandfather were in upstairs bedrooms when the fire began, according to News 12 Westchester. The man was also pulled from the home. His condition has not been released. Firefighters responded to a call at around 11:45 a.m. and were able to get the fire under control in 15 minutes, reported lohud.com. The identities of the man and 3-year-old have not been released. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, retiring from Carpenters Local 15 in Hackensack and operating his own construction company. Alfis is survived by his wife Dolores (nee DeRienzo), son David Jr. of New York City, daughter Tracy Littlewood and her husband Thomas of Arlington, Tenn., four grandchildren, sisters Pauline and Barbara, two nieces, one nephew and brother-in-law Lenny DeRienzo. Black Bear Spotted Wandering In Ridgefield RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – A black bear was sighted on Soundview Road in Ridgefield on Thursday night, according to Hamlet Hub. The sighting is just one of many recent bear incidents in the area, including a handful of sightings in Fairfield County over the summer. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection notes that much of the state is forested and now suitable for bears, resulting in increased sightings, reported Hamlet Hub.
