Caroline Benoit, 89, Of Ridgewood RIDGEWOOD, N.J. – Caroline J. Benoit (nee Daley), a longtime resident of Ridgewood, died at her home Nov. 7. She was 89. She graduated from the Syracuse University School of Nursing, serving in the U.S. Army Cadet Nurse Corps from 1943-48 and going on to serve as vice president of Ramapo Travel in Airmont, N.Y. Benoit was predeceased by her husband Woodrow. She is survived by five children, Peter and Sue, Stephen, Caron and Andreas, three grandchildren and four nieces and nephews. Castro was predeceased by his son Carlos, and is survived by his wife Carmen (nee Valcarcel), daughter Maria Izurieta; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Work Begins On New Girders Connecting Rockland To Tappan Zee Bridge CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. – Construction work is slated to begin next week on girders that will connect the Tappan Zee Bridge to the Rockland County shore, according to LoHud.com. Similar work was completed in Tarrytown last month, where girders were installed near the Metro-North Hudson Line, the story said. Plans are to connect girders to the Rockland shore, eventually linking to the bridge abutment on River Road, reported LoHud.com. The first span of the bridge is scheduled to open late in 2016.
