Woman Crossing Montauk Highway Struck By Land Rover In Shirley, Police Say A woman was struck and injured while crossing a busy Long Island highway. The incident took place in Shirley around 9:50 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17 on the Montauk Highway and Aletta Place. According to Suffolk County Police, a 56-year-old woman was crossing the roadway against the traffic light at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Aletta Place when she was struck by a 2005 Landrover. The woman was transported to the hospital in Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Bridgeport College Rental Burglary Suspect Nabbed A burglary suspect who has been targeting Fairfield County college students breaking into off-campus rental properties has been arrested. Rajiv Holness, age, 23, of Bridgeport, was nabbed by Bridgeport Police on Monday, Oct. 17 following a months-long investigation. Over the past several months, the Bridgeport North End homes, specifically Sacred Heart University off-campus rental properties, were plagued with a rash of residential burglaries, said Det. 19-Year-Old Killed In 2-Vehicle CT Crash A 19-year-old Connecticut resident was killed in an early morning two-vehicle crash. The crash took place in New Haven County around 5:20 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18 in Waterbury. According to Waterbury Police Lt. Hudson Valley Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child A Hudson Valley man has been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a child under the age of 11. Orange County resident Jose Ramos Alonzo, age 33, of Newburgh, was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 13, said Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police. An investigation determined Alonzo engaged in a course of sexual conduct with a child less than 11 years old, Nevel said. Alonzo was charged with predatory sexual assault of a child and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail.
