Woodland Park Library Announces Holiday Closings
WOODLAND PARK, N.J. -- Alfred H. Baumann Free Public Library will close on Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1 and resume its activities on Jan. 2. An arts and crafts event for children in kindergarten through second grade will be the library's first program for 2016. It is the first event in a monthly series. Registration is recommended by emailing Lauber@abwplibrary.org. The program begins at 11 a.m.

Oradell Fireman Spread Holiday Cheer
ORADELL, N.J. -- The Oradell Fire Department escorted none other than Santa Claus and his elves during their visit from the North Pole on Sunday. In addition to spreading holiday cheer and candy canes, the Oradell department also took their annual photo with firefighters from Paramus. Both traditions date back decades.

Greenwich Swimmers Compete In 15th Annual Town Championships
GREENWICH, Conn. -- Close to 300 swimmers hopped into the Greenwich High School Pool on Saturday for the 15th Annual Greenwich Town Swim Championships. Hosted by the YWCA of Greenwich Dolphins Swim Team, the event also featured the YMCA of Greenwich Marlins, the Sharks Swim Team and the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich Barracudas competing in 48 events. Greenwich Dolphins Kate Hazlett, 15, broke the 2009 meet mark held by Morgan Karetnick in the 15-and over 100-yard backstroke, setting a new record of 59.77. Rockland Police Graduates Join The Ranks
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. --Thirty-three men and women recently graduated from the Rockland County Police and Public Safety Academy. "Thank you for serving our communities," said Rockland County Executive Ed Day. "Be safe out there!" The rookies will join police departments in Clarkstown and Wallkill, the Rockland County Sheriff's Department, SUNY Downstate Medical Center University Police, the Bronx County District Attorney's Office and the state Office of Attorney General.

State Police Issue Alert After Rash Of Car Larcenies In Westchester
New York State Police from the Brewster barracks and Somers barracks and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department have issued an alert to residents of Westchester and Putnam counties to lock their vehicles. The warning follows a string of car larcenies in residential neighborhoods and are facilitated by residents who leave their car keys and valuables unsecured within their cars. Police did not name specific streets or neighborhoods that have seen larcenies of late. Residents are also advised not to leave any valuables in their automobiles.

Ramapo Holiday Garbage Pick-Up Schedule Changed
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- The garbage collection schedule for unincorporated Ramapo has changed for the holidays. Pickups originally scheduled for Fridays Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 will instead be done Dec. 26 and Jan 2, respectively.

NY Giants Collecting Toys At Game Against Panthers
RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants will collect donations at their annual Toys for Tots drive when they play the undefeated Carolina Panthers Dec. 20. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to any of the collection vehicles at each MetLife Stadium entrance. Uniformed Marine Corps will assist in collecting the toys. Parking lots open at 8 a.m. and gates open at 11 a.m. The game begins at 1 p.m.
