New Paltz Fire Displaces Three Tenants NEW PALTZ -- Three tenants were displaced after a two-alarm fire on N. Chestnut St. in New Paltz on Friday night. According to Poughkeepsie Journal, an electrical issue with the attic's wiring resulted in a small fire in the attic and heavy smoke in the building's third floor stairwell. No Injuries Reported As Fire Destroys Historic Monroe House MONROE, Conn. -- A historic Monroe house that was part of the Underground Railroad was destroyed in a fire Sunday morning, according to the Connecticut Post website. The fire at the colonial-style house at 181 Hammertown Road was reported at 5 a.m., and the home was totally lost by 11 a.m., the Post said. Darien Police: Counterfeit $20 Bill Passed At Post Road Diner DARIEN, Conn. -- A counterfeit $20 bill was discovered by the manager of Post Road Diner on Nov. 18, according to the Darien Times. Management reported the bill to police after confirming it as a fake with a marker test, the Times said. A Darien police officer confirmed the bill did not have a security strip, the story said. Multiple counterfeit bills with the same serial number have been used across the state, police told the Times. Woman Rescued From Rolled-Over Car After Rhinebeck Crash RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- The Rhinebeck Fire Department had to extricate a woman from her car following a crash on Friday morning, according to a report in the Poughkeepsie Journal. According to Poughkeepsie Journal, the woman's car crashed into a utility pole and rolled down an embankment. She was stuck inside after the car landed on its passenger side, the Journal reported.  A section of Route 308 was shut down for more than three hours after the crash, according to the Journal.
