Children's Chess Tournaments Coming To Westchester County
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The National Scholastic Chess Foundation's Grand Prix 2015-16 tournament season kicks off Nov. 7 at New Rochelle's Columbus Elementary School. “Competitive chess for children is a chance to put learning into action. Think of a chess tournament along the same lines as a recital for a music student,” said Sunil Weeramantry, the foundation's executive director . “In addition to the skills taught on the chessboard, children learn life skills from having to perform in a public setting. Classic Films On Screen At Suffern's Historic Lafayette Theater
SUFFERN, N.Y. -- The Robert Benmosche Film Festival at the Lafayette Theater kicked off with "A Hard Day's Night" Oct. 17 and will screen classic and recent films until Dec. 12. Seasonal Temporary Laborers Sought For Snow Removal, Leaf Pickup
SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Township of South Hackensack is seeking temporary laborers for the winter season. Depending on the demand for weekly snow removal and plowing and leaf pickup, work will be part-time. Hours may range from days, evenings and weekends during inclement weather.
