Stamford's Avon Theater Presents 'Goonies' Costume Contest
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Hey, you guys! The Avon Theatre will have a special screening of "The Goonies" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 with a pre-film reception at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature a costume contest with prizes. Exhibit In Greenwich Features Animal Portraits
GREENWICH, Conn. -- Tischman Pets Photography and Méli-Mélo Creperie, Juice Bar and Catering of Greenwich will run the "Furry Portraits - Happiness, Love & Devotion" exhibition from Aug. 15 to Oct. 5. MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Arlen Schumer, author of "The Silver Age of Comic Book Art," will give a live presentation in Mount Vernon Public Library's community room on Aug. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. Schumer's presentation will explore the origins of superhero traditions, how they personify American values and ideals and how these portrayals changed in the 1960s.
