New Rochelle Public Library Foundation Holds Video Contest
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle Public Library Foundation has launched a short-video contest called "I Found It at the Library." Students are encouraged to capture the New Rochelle Library's magic in a 60-90 second short. The contest is open to New Rochelle students in grades nine through 12 and features first, second and third prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250, respectively. Greenburgh Library Offers 'Walk And Read' Program For Adults
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Greenburgh Public Library is offering "Walk and Read" this summer for adults who enjoy both. "Walk and Read" meets on Mondays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. During each 30-minute session, participants will walk together and discuss their favorite books while keeping track of the number of laps they walk. After each session there will be a water break in Ellen's garden behind the building and a participant's name will be entered into a drawing for a Fitbit or a tablet at the end of the summer. NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Westchester County Parks' Family Film Frenzy series continues with "Dolphin Tale 2" at Glen Island Beach in New Rochelle on July 15. “Westchester families can enjoy a great movie as they spread their blankets on the sand and take an evening dip in the refreshing salt water at Glen Island beach,” said County Executive Robert P. Westchester Land Trust Seeking Volunteers
BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The Westchester Land Trust is seeking volunteers to assist in the planting and harvesting of crops to support the Food Bank of Westchester. Volunteers assist the trust's resident farmer Doug DiCandia every two weeks from April through October. In 2014, volunteers helped the the trust's Sugar Hill Farm yield 4,840 servings of food, according to a press release. Friends Of Greenwich Point Launches Summer Concert Series
GREENWICH, Conn. -- The 2015 season of the Friends of Greenwich Point's free summer concert series begins Sunday with 18-piece band The Fairfield Counts. Twist of Fate will cover classic pop tunes from the '60s to the '80s on July 26. Blue grass group One Way Track will perform on Aug. 16 and GHS Jazz Players will close the season on Sept. 13. Kent Library To Train Kid Super Heroes
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Kent Library will sponsor Super Heroes Training Camp on July 3 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children are encouraged to attend dressed as their favorite hero. Those without a costume can make one at the library's DIY craft program on July 2 from 2 to 3 p.m. by bringing a solid t-shirt with no logos or prints on it.
