Panas Grad Races Cross Country In Solar Powered Car CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- A Panas High School graduate is part of a cross-country race team that recently completed the American Solar Power Challenge.The 2,000-mile race involves solar power cars from universities in the United States and Canada. Matt Swif,t who graduated from Panas in 2014 is a member of a team from Iowa State University. He is a double major there in materials engineering and math and is due to graduate in 2018. An emergency medical technician with the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps, DeJong assisted others in making tourniquets for someone whose both legs were almost lost in the crash and helping drag the person from the wreckage, said lohud.com. Yorktown Girls Softball Teams Win First Place YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Two teams garnered trophies for winning first place in the Yorktown Westchester Putnam Baseball Association Girls Travel Softball summer season.The teams 10 and under and 12 and under are both named Yorktown Huskers. Team 10u went undefeated with 10 wins; while 12u played in the North division and had 10 wins and one loss. This is the third consecutive year the 12u team won first place in the WPBA.
