Mamaroneck Boys Basketball Team Outlasts Rye In 2OT To Win Tigers Tourney MAMARONECK, N.Y. – The Mamaroneck boys varsity basketball team edged Rye 85-79 in double-overtime to win the 19th annual Tigers Tournament on Saturday. Mamaroneck's Miles Haughton earned tournament MVP honors by scoring 40 points, rallying the Tigers from a seven-point deficit in the last four minutes of regulation time to get the game to overtime. Emerson Genovese joined Haughton on the all-tourney team. The tournament victory was Mamoroneck's first in the Tigers Tournament since 2012.

Yonkers Graduation Rate Jumps Nearly Six Percent In 2015 YONKERS, N.Y. – Figures just released by the state note that graduation rates for Yonkers-based students jumped up almost six points from 2014 to 2015, according to LoHud.com. Some 74.2 percent of students who entered ninth-grade in the 2011-12 school year graduated in June, LoHud.com notes. That's an increase of nearly six points from 2014's 68.2 percent, reported LoHud.com. Pentenero was was born on July 12, 1943, to Albert and Elsie Pentenero. He was raised in Scarsdale, attending private schools in Massachusetts and graduating from White Plains High School. He worked for the City of White Plains Parking Authority and retired from the Westchester County Parks Department. He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Gina A. Graduating from Hunter College with a master's degree in education, she was an elementary school teacher in both New York City and Pelham for more than 30 years. She is survived by her son, James and brother, Louis Maggio. Glessmann was predeceased by her husband, Louis. Howland Library in Beacon Closing For Installation Of Ada-compliant Airlock BEACON, N.Y. – The Howland Public Library in Beacon announced that they will close for three days next week so that a new ADA-compliant airlock entrance can be installed. The library will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 26, Wednesday, Jan. 27 and most of Thursday, Jan. 28 for construction. Current plans are to reopen at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28 for evening meetings and an Instagram Workshop. No fines will accrue, and patron holds won't expire. Developer Eric Bergstol sent a letter to members Wednesday about the transaction, mentioning the property no longer would be a golf club, said LoHud.com.
