Stanley Banyra, 95, Formerly Of Wyckoff
WYCKOFF, N.J. – Stanley Banyra, of Manchester and formerly of Wyckoff, died Nov. 19. He was 95. Banyra was born in New York City to Anna Kozyra and Stefan Banyra, living in Wyckoff and Mahwah for more than 40 years before moving to Manchester 10 years ago. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his service, Banyra worked for American Cyanamid Corporation as a chemical engineer and for Weichert Realty in Wyckoff. He was predeceased by his parents. Banrya is survived by his wi…

Andrew Cuomo Trying To Raise National Profile, Report Says
ALBANY, N.Y. – Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been raising his national profile the last few weeks, according to the New York State of Politics blog. Other items of note include Cuomo having a week to pick a chief judge for the state Supreme Court. Cuomo, who lives in New Castle, has to replace retiring Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, reported the New York State of Politics blog. Spotlight Theatre Presents 'A Christmas Carol' In Armonk
ARMONK, N.Y. – The Spotlight Theatre in Armonk will host a production of “A Christmas Carol” from Friday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 13 at the Whippoorwill Hall Theatre at the North Castle Public Library. Rhinebeck Stop & Shop Reopens After Electrical Fire
RHINEBECK, N.Y. – The Stop & Shop supermarket in Rhinebeck has reopened after an electrical fire on Monday night, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. The fire happened in the bakery department around 6:30 p.m. Firefighters got the blaze under control by cutting the power in the bakery department and cutting through the walls of the department, reported the Poughkeepsie Journal. NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The former New Rochelle home of actors Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee is now on the market for an asking price of $1.5 million, according to LoHud.com. Davis and Dee bought the home at 44 Cortlandt Ave. in the 1960s. The Mediterranean-style property covers 1.29 acres, reported LoHud.com. Davis died in 2005 and Dee died in 2014. Republican Majority Grows In Dutchess County Legislature
DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – The Republican majority in the Dutchess County Legislature grew by one after absentee ballots were counted for three contested legislative races, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. Republican Ellen Nesbitt, Independence Party member Jerry Landisi and Democrat Francena Amparo won their respective races when all votes were in. Ramapo Police Charge Three With Drug Possession In Sloatsburg
RAMAPO, N.Y. – Ramapo police charged three people with drug possession after stopping their car at a Sloatsburg gas station Thursday night, according to lohud.com. Kyle Joseph Stevens, 28, of Pennsylvania, 29-year old Sarah Caletka of Binghamton and 20-year old Ramon Olando Maldonado of the Bronx each face charges of criminal possession and intent to sell a controlled substance, lohud reported. Crews Expect To Recover Large Piece Of Crashed Plane In North Salem
NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Crews are expecting to recover today a large piece of the plane that crashed into the Titicus Reservoir in North Salem Thursday night, according to News 12 Westchester. The piece was discovered using sonar during a search Saturday, and divers put a buoy on it to bring it to the surface. The single-engine Beechcraft carrying Val and Taew Horsa, of North Salem, disappeared from radar on approach to Danbury Airport, reported News 12 Westchester.
