Early Morning Fire Destroys Westport Barn, Apartment A Fairfield County barn with an attached apartment was destroyed by an early morning fire. The incident took place in Westport around 6 a.m., Monday, June 5 on Old Hill Road. The first arriving firefighters found fire showing from the barn with all residents out of the building, said Westport Fire Department Assistant Chief Brian Meadows. "Three occupants were alerted by the property owner and evacuated the building prior to firefighters arriving on the scene," Meadows said. Sexual Assault Of Child: Hudson Valley Man Admits To Raping Young Girl A Hudson Valley man faces 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree rape of a child under the age of 13. Orange County resident Jesus Torres, age 32, of Goshen, pleaded guilty on Monday, June 5 to the charges under a plea deal, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler. Once released, Torres will be under 10 years of post-release supervision and required to register as a sex offender, the DA's Office said. Home Burglary: Police Seek Help In Tracking Down Pair Of Suspects Police in Fairfield County are asking the public for any videos they may have to help catch two men who allegedly committed a home burglary. The burglary took place in Ridgefield around 7 p.m., Monday, May 29 on Pinecrest Drive near North Street. According to Capt. Deadly Shooting: 26-Year-Old CT Man ID'd As Victim A 26-year-old Connecticut man who was shot and killed over the weekend has been identified by police. The shooting took place in New Haven County around 5 a.m., Sunday, June 4, between North Main Street at Division Street in Waterbury. According to Lt. Robert Davis of the Waterbury Police, officers responded to the area of the shooting and found an unoccupied vehicle and evidence of a shooting. Gruesome Broad-Daylight Homicide: 24-Year-Old Found Stabbed In Head In Hudson Valley A 24-year-old man found stabbed in the head with a knife in the Hudson Valley later died. The incident took place in Dutchess County around 12:30 p.m., on Sunday, June 4 at 25 South Grand Ave., in the city of Poughkeepsie. According to Det. Lt. Matt Clark, of the Poughkeepsie Police, responding officers found the man stabbed once with bystanders performing life-saving measures. Cooking Oil Thieves Nabbed On Long Island, Police Say Two Long Island men have been charged with stealing cooking oil from several restaurants. The three thefts took place in Suffolk County in May and June in Medford and Patchogue, said the Suffolk County Police. According to Suffolk County Police Gregory Smith, age 39, and Andrew DeMarco, age 38, both of Farmingville, were arrested on Monday, June 5, for stealing cooking oil from three different restaurants on five occasions. Double Shooting: Suspect On Run After Hudson Valley Incident Police in the Hudson Valley are investigating after two victims were found shot on a city street. The incident occurred in Orange County around 1:30 a.m., Saturday, June 3 near the area of Poplar Street and Fowler Avenue in Newburgh. Man Nabbed In Theft Of $7K From Parked Vehicle In Region A man from the region has been charged with grand larceny in connection with the theft of $7,500 from a vehicle parked at a construction site. Task Force Bust: Hudson Valley Man Charged With Selling Fentanyl, Cops Say A Hudson Valley man has been charged with the criminal sale of narcotics following an investigation into fentanyl sales in the area. Orange County resident Mackenzie A. Arias, age 23, of Newburgh, was arrested by the Dutchess County Drug Task following an investigation that lasted several months, said Det. Sgt. Traffic Stop In Region Leads To Drug Bust, 3 Arrested, State Police Say Two men and a juvenile were charged with possession of a controlled substance after state police found more than three pounds of marijuana and cocaine during a traffic stop.
