Hudson Valley Restaurateur Sentenced For Burning Down Eatery, Endangering Others
A former Hudson Valley restaurateur has been sentenced to prison for intentionally burning down his restaurant and endangering the lives of his wife and first responders.
Orange County resident Zef Gjurashaj, age 60, of Newburgh, was sentenced Wednesday, March 1.
Gjurashaj, who was convicted by a jury in September 2022, was sentenced to 22 years to life in prison for burning down Andiamo’s Restaurant, which was located at 5025 Route 9W, in the Town of Newburgh in 2017, the Orange County DA's Office said.

Man Charged With DWI, Manslaughter In Deadly Long Island Crash
A 32-year-old man has been charged with alleged DWI and vehicular manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash on Long Island.
The crash took place in Nassau County around 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 1 in Freeport.
According to Nassau County Police detectives, Tyshaun Johashen, age 32, homeless, was driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra southbound on Babylon Turnpike in the vicinity of Carroll Street when he struck a 24-year-old woman.
The woman, identified as Mia Pollidore, of Freeport, suffered severe trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stratford Woman Seriously Injured In I-95 3-Vehicle Crash, Police Say
A Fairfield County woman was seriously injured during a three-vehicle crash on I-95 that closed part of the highway for several hours.
The crash took place in New Haven County around 2:15 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, in the southbound lanes of the highway near Exit 61 in Madison, said the Connecticut State Police.
Anna Scala, age 77, of Stratford, was driving a 2015 Buick Verano when she was involved in a crash with a 2017 Ram pickup truck, and a 2021 Nissan Altima, state police said.

Man Who Robbed, Murdered Beloved Stamford Jeweler Sentenced
The man who shot and killed a beloved Fairfield County jeweler during a robbery has been sentenced to prison.
Robert Rallo, age 59, of New York City, was sentenced on Wednesday, March 1, to 40 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release, for the March 2020 murder and robbery of Mark Vuono, of Marco Jewelers in Stamford, said US Attorney for the District of Connecticut Vanessa Roberts Avery.

Covid- 19: Hudson Valley's Savannah Guthrie Rushes Off Today Set After Testing Positive 3rd Time
Popular TODAY show host Savannah Guthrie had to leave the set early on Tuesday, Feb. 28, after testing positive for COVID-19, according to NBC News.
Guthrie, who lives in the Hudson Valley in Dutchess County, took a rapid COVID-19 test while the show was on the air after saying she didn't feel well.
She did not appear again after the 7:30 a.m. hour after testing positive for the third time, NBC News said.
