Ridgefield Park Gives Out Batteries For Smoke, Carbon Monoxide Detectors RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- The Village of Ridgefield Park Emergency Management Office is giving out free batteries to residents for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. From from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Thursday (or until supplies run out) the Office of Emergency Management and the village Bureau of Fire Prevention will give out free 9 volt batteries for the detectors.  The free batteries are only available to village residents. Residents can pick up the batteries at the Emergency Management office, at 50 Main St. There is a limit of two per household.

New Rochelle Club Members Win First Prize In PSA Contest NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Two New Rochelle High School students from the Zonta Club who were participating in Girls Inc. ("Inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold") teamed up with the Young Filmmakers Club to produce a video that won first prize in the public service announcement contest. The "Hands are for Holding" video contest focused on bringing awareness to teen dating violence.  The competition was open to Westchester County residents in grades 9-12.  The overarching goal of the Zonta International Club is to empower women.
