New Newtown Police Chief Aims For More Transparency NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Newtown's new police chief, James Viadero, aims to strengthen the relationship between his officers and the community and make the agency more transparent, according to the News-Times. He plans to achieve his goal by introducing "progressive police practices," the News-Times reported. Viadero reportedly will attend public events, meet with residents and business owners and make himself publicly available, said the News-Times. Teen Gets Prison Time For Two Armed Robberies In Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford teen and former Westhill High School student Landell Sheckles was sentenced to 42 months in jail for two armed West Side robberies, according to the Stamford Advocate.  Another student at Westhill accused Sheckles and another man, later identified as former student Christopher Williams, of shoving a gun to his neck and robbing him of two cellphones and $40 in cash, reported the Stamford Advocate.  An hour after the Oct. 30 robbery, police responded to an incident on the same street where a Hispanic victim was robbed of his cellphone. He subsequently identified Sh…
