Kids Can Learn Stop-Motion Movie Making At The Huntington Library
SHELTON, Conn. -- Huntington Branch Library in Shelton will hold a class for kids on stop-motion movie making on Nov. 18 at 4:30 p.m. Designed for kids in grades 5 and 6, the class will teach kids how to work together to create a short film using stop-motion animation. STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Avon Theatre in Stamford will screen the 1974 classic "Chinatown" on Nov. 17. Film noir maven Michael Kovner will lead a post-film Q&A. "Chinatown" is a neo-noir mystery directed by Roman Polanski and starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. The film's plot is inspired by the California Water Wars of the early 20th century. "Shopping at the 18th Hole" will take place at Brooklawn Country Club from 6-9 p.m. The event will feature light fare, hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Visitors Can Gobble Up Turkey Fish At Maritime Aquarium
NORWALK, Conn. -- In anticipation of Thanksgiving, the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk will hold a "Turkey Fish Weekend" on Nov. 14 and 15. Also known as lionfish, the "turkey fish" resembles a male turkey in full display. Philip Stone Caterers will serve free samples of turkey fish ceviche in support of a federal "Eat Lionfish" campaign. Eating lionfish helps control the population of the invasive species and offers relief to overfished species like snapper and grouper. Injunction Sought To Stop Renovation Of Mount Vernon's Memorial Field
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Mayor-elect Richard Thomas is seeking a court order to stop any further work at Memorial Field until he takes office in January. According to lohud.com, the city of Mount Vernon and Westchester County agreed to replace the existing stadium with a $12.7 renovation project before Mayor Ernie Davis changed plans to renovate it instead.
