Tarrytown Rec Invites Families To Make Scarecrows At Festival
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- The Tarrytown Recreation Department will hold its Annual Scarecrow Making Festival on Saturday at Patriot's Park. Families should bring old clothes, accessories and creative ideas when crafting their custom scarecrow. Straw and wood frames will be provided. The scarecrows will be placed along Tarrytown's Main Street and Broadway.

Mount Vernon Councilman Richard Thomas Visits Tennis Clinic
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Councilman Richard Thomas recently visited the children of Shining Stars Children's Reading and Tennis for pictures and a game. Thomas rolled up his sleeves and tucked in his tie before hitting tennis balls with the group. The children's access to the tennis courts has been limited. He is seeking answers as to why Memorial Field appears to have been privatized even though, according to the county Board of Legislators, it belongs to the city of Mount Vernon.

Valhalla Students, Staff Shave Heads For Cancer Awareness
VALHALLA, N.Y. -- Approximately 75 students joined Valhalla School District employees in shaving their heads to raise money for childhood cancer research. Students, faculty and staff lined up at the Valhalla Firehouse to be shorn at the St. Baldrick's Foundation event. The Valhalla Fire Department gave tours and rides on their trucks and students attempted to soak their teachers in a dunk tank.
