Whether you prefer them in a soup, pasta, salad or something else, Oct. 6 is National Noodle Day.  The staple is made of unleavened dough that comes in a variety of shapes and sizes.  According to NationalDayCalendar.com, the exact origins of the noodle are unknown, but they have been a staple in different parts of the world for more than 1800 years.  In 2002, archaeologists found an earthenware bowl containing noodles dating back 4,000 years.
