'Moonviewing Concert' At North Salem's Hammond Museum
NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- The Hammond Museum will hold its 49th Annual Moonviewing Concert on Aug. 29 from 6 to 10 p.m. Begun in 1966 by Natalie Hays Hammond, the concert begins with a tea ceremony introduction by Michael McKenna at 6:30 p.m. and traditional Japanese music beginning at 8:30 p.m. The Japanese Stroll Garden will be illuminated by paper lanterns for the events. Tickets are $15 for museum members, $20 for non-members and $10 for children over age 6. For more information, click here.

Kent Library Program Teaches About Recognizing Psychopaths
KENT LAKES, N.Y. -- The Kent Public Library will host a presentation titled "How to Spot and Protect Yourself from a Psychopath" on Aug. 24 from 6 to 7 p.m. The presentation will be led by a member of the Society for the Scientific Study of Psychopathy. Her work was recently accepted into Russia's Library of Congress, and she will speak from her own experiences from living with two psychopaths. Registration is required for this event. Danbury Libary Declares Amnesty Days For Overdue Fines
DANBURY, Conn. – The Danbury Library will offer amnesty to customers with overdue fines from Aug. 10-15. Customers can return the items along with a school supply for each overdue item, and the fines will be waived from their account. “This is our second year offering the school supply fine amnesty program,” said Darlene Garrison, Circulation Department Manager. “It benefits the community and it helps to get our materials returned and back on the shelves for more library customers to utilize – it’s a win-win. Jerry Alleyne Memorial Foundation To Have Fundraiser
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Jerry Alleyne Memorial Foundation will host a fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at the Westchester Plaza Tennis Academy. Donations will go to help students train, play and participate in USTA programs. The foundation, nonprofit organization, is dedicated to helping students build character and leadership skills through tennis. Two tickets to the U.S. Open will be raffled off at the event. Calpulli Mexican Dance Company Performs At New Rochelle Library
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The Calpulli Mexican Dance Company (Calpulli Danza Mexicana) will perform at The Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library on Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. The company will perform dances specific to various regions of Mexico in colorful costume for free program. They have performed in premier New York City venues such as Carnegie Hall and Symphony Space. New Rochelle children aged 6 to 16 will join the dancers for a segment of the show. The children have studied with the dancers in a free seven-week course given at the library.

More Honor Flights Planned For Greenburgh's World War II Veterans
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Hudson Valley Honor Flight is inviting Greenburgh veterans to participate in two daylong trips to visit the nation's war memorials this fall. The trips are scheduled for Oct. 10 from Stewart International Airport in Newburgh and Nov. 7 from Westchester County Airport in White Plains. Hudson Valley Honor Flight honors American veterans for their services and sacrifices with free trips to visit the memorials in Washington, D.C. at no cost to them. CARMEL, N.Y. -- Muriel Edith (Helwig) Hicks, the mother of Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell, died Wednesday, Aug. 4 at the age of 76. New Parsonage Delivered To White Plains' Trinity Lutheran Church
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Trinity Lutheran Church of White Plains accepted delivery of a new, prefabricated parsonage on Monday. Photos of the construction of the foundation and the hoisting of the two halves of the parsonage are available on the church's official Facebook page. The church will hold a dedication ceremony after the landscaping is finished in early autumn.
