Summer Activities Available For Mount Vernon Youth
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A variety of camp options and other activities are available to the children of Mount Vernon this summer. The Mount Vernon Youth Bureau's Safe Haven Summer Camp is from July 6 through Aug. 14 at Longfellow Elementary School for kids ages 6-12. At Safe Heaven, children will participate in STEAM (science, technology, English, art and mathematics) activities and go on field trips. White Plains Downtown Criterium Event To Fight Drug, Alcohol Addiction
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The White Plains Downtown Criterium will raise money Sunday to fight alcoholism and drug addiction. The bike race will start at 160 Martine Ave. and the rectangular course includes Mamaroneck Avenue, Quarropas Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The course is closed to all traffic. The first race will start at 7 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early for a spot near the start and finish line. Darien Library To Screen Environmental Family Film
DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Library will screen "Wings of Life" in the Louise Parker Berry Community Room at 1 p.m. Saturday, The 2011 film from Disneynature is narrated by Meryl Streep and gives an intimate look on how one-third of the world's food supply depends on increasingly threatened winged creatures, such as butterflies, bees, bats and hummingbirds. The screening is sponsored by the Darien Library, the Darien Land Trust, the Darien Nature Center and the Garden Club of Darien.

Beekeeper Pays A Visit To Danbury Library
DANBURY, Conn. -- Beekeeper Ned Farrell will give a presentation from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Danbury Library. Farrell will use real apiary equipment and photographs as he informs the audience on the world of honeybees, what they do for us, the role of the beekeeper, the various types of bees in a hive, the creation of honey and the basics of bee biology and society. PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Students from Port Chester Middle School recently participated in the Open Door Foundation's Extra Mile Challenge. By going the extra mile, the students helped raise wellness, awareness and funds for Open Door Family Medical Centers.
