She was 92.  Newcombe, formerly of Yonkers, graduated from the University of Mary Washington in three years and was recruited by the U.S. government to work as a cryptologist where she helped break the Soviet Union code.  She later became a teacher, initially teaching French, then severely disabled children and eventually pre-kindergarten for 22 years at the Reform Church Nursery School.
