Robert Niles, 84, Of Poughkeepsie, Veteran Photographer DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – Robert V. (Bob) Niles, of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, Oct. 21. He was 84. Niles was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Michigan City, Ind., moving to Poughkeepsie at 10 and graduating from Poughkeepsie High School. He started working at the Poughkeepsie Journal as a photographer in 1950, retiring in 1993. Niles earned plenty of recognition for his work, including the Bernard Kolenberg Memorial Award for Excellence in Newspaper Photography. Mohegan Lake Man Faces Drug Charge After Putnam Valley Traffic Violation MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. – A Mohegan Lake man was arrested on drug charges after committing a traffic violation in Putnam Valley on Oct. 18. Corey Policastro, 21, was stopped by sheriffs after committing the violation on Bryant Pond Road, and the subsequent investigation turned up drugs in Policastro's possession. Policastro was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and released. He is due in Putnam Valley Justice Court on Oct. 29 to answer to the charges. He faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 if found guilty.
