Robert Niles, 84, Of Poughkeepsie, Veteran Photographer
DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – Robert V. (Bob) Niles, of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, Oct. 21. He was 84.
Niles was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Michigan City, Ind., moving to Poughkeepsie at 10 and graduating from Poughkeepsie High School.
He started working at the Poughkeepsie Journal as a photographer in 1950, retiring in 1993. Niles earned plenty of recognition for his work, including the Bernard Kolenberg Memorial Award for Excellence in Newspaper Photography.
He was predeceased by his daughter Valerie, sister Mae Burbas, and brother Henry.

Santiago Collazo, 84, Of Stamford
STAMFORD, Conn. – Santiago Collazo, a resident of Stamford, died Oct. 20. He was 84.
Collazo was born Sept. 16, 1931, in Morovis, Puerto Rico to Isidro Collazo and Adelina Ramos.
He was predeceased by his parents and three sons, Sandy, Andrew and Jose.
Collazo is survived by his wife Margarita Tirado Collazo; 10 children, Ana, Mercedes, Andrea, Ruby, Gilbert, Jackie, Aigsa, Carmen, Kathy, Santiago; sister Ana Martinez, brother Fermin Collazo and many grandchildren.

Gregory McBroom, 60, Of Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Gregory McBroom, of Bridgeport, died Monday, Oct. 19 at the VA Hospital in West Haven. He was 60.
McBroom was born July 2, 1955, in Burlington, N.C., to Lathaniel and Iola (nee Moore) McBroom, serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and remaining in the reserves for 20 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by his wife Lenora (nee James), son Carlos, daughters Candice and Carmen; grandson Dylan; two brothers, Derrick and his wife Elizabeth, Lynn and his wife Lana; sister Sandy Ford, and a host of other relatives and friends.

James O'Brien, 86, Of Fairfield
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – James Norbert O'Brien, of Fairfield, died at home Oct. 21. He was 86.
O'Brien was born in Flushing, N.Y. to Katherine and James O'Brien, attending Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn and graduating from the City College of New York.
He started in the lumber industry, working at Boston's Furman Lumber, and founded Nutmeg Forest Products in 1977 with his wife, which remains in the family to this day.
O'Brien is predeceased by his parents, brothers Bill and Richard, sister Katherine and his granddaughter Katie.
