Robert D. Pond, 80, Of Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. – Robert D. Pond, of Norwalk, died Oct. 11 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 80. Pond was born March 17, 1935, to Ferris and Alice Hartwell Pond, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After his service ended, he worked as a driver for Vallerie Transportation until retirement. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Arlene, four sons, Robert and his wife Susan of Kings Park, N.Y., Thomas and his wife Wendy of Fairfield, Kenneth and his wife Victoria of Greenwich, William and his wife Janette of Trumbull; and 15 grandchildren. New York Man Sentenced For Tax Fraud And Identity Theft In Darien DARIEN, Conn. – A New York man has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in New Haven after being convicted of tax fraud and identity theft in Darien. Cesar Penson Perez, 28, was sentenced to two years prison and three years of supervised release after being involved in a stolen identity tax fraud scheme that totaled more than $7.5 million. Perez was responsible for $360,000 in the scheme and was ordered to pay that amount as restitution. The project began in 2006, but construction was delayed when a large amount of rock was discovered underneath the planned parking garage.
