James Lynch, 85, Of New Rochelle NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — James W. Lynch, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on Monday, Sept. 28. He was 85. Lynch was born in Brooklyn to James and Helen Henderson Lynch. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1950-53. After the war, he graduated from St. John's University with a bachelor's degree in accounting, working as a financial executive at Corning Glass Works in Corning and as president of Salton, Inc. in New Rochelle. Fairfield Firefighters Rescue Trapped Dog FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Members of the Fairfield Fire Department banded together with Fairfield Animal Control on Sept. 30 to rescue a local dog who had gotten stuck at a home on Lyman Lane. An eight-year old cock-a-poo had gotten stuck under slabs of concrete and construction debris, and with the forecast calling for heavy rains, the officers had to work quickly, Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola. Within a half-hour of the original call, the dog was free and returned to its owner with the help of structural collapse rescue tools and traditional digging equipment.

Students Return To Class After North Rockland High School Bomb Scare THIELLS, N.J. — Students at North Rockland High School were briefly evacuated after a bomb scare Thursday, Oct. 1 turned out to be false. The school was evacuated around 9 a.m., and about a half-hour later, school principal Michael Gill sent out a message saying the threat was unsubstantiated. The all-clear was given at around 10 a.m., and students have since returned to class.

Movie Filming In Westchester Searches For Extras PEEKSKILL, N.Y. — Production company Turbo Orange Films has put out a casting call for actors and extras alike for a film shooting in Peekskill during January and February.
