He was 88. Masur was born on July 11, 1927 in Brzeg, Poland, becoming the music director of the Philharmonic when Leonard Bernstein died in 1991. He led the Philharmonic until retiring in 2002, conducting 909 performances with the orchestra in total, including guest appearances starting in 1981 and ending in 2012. Former Staples Teacher Pleads Guilty To Sexual Assault Of Westport Student WESTPORT, Conn. – A former teacher at Staples High School in Westport has pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree sexual assault involving a 14-year old student, according to Westport Now. Theron Kissinger, 45, began tutoring the student in October 2014, and the two started an inappropriate relationship that ended when the student contacted a school social worker, Westport Now reported. Kissinger was arrested and charged back in January, and has been free on $50,000 bond since then, reported Westport Now. He is due to be sentenced in Westport Town Court on March 1.
