Harrison's Kurt Masur, NY Philharmonic Leader, Dies
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Kurt Masur of Harrison and who was the music director of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra for 11 years, died on Saturday, Dec. 19. He was 88.
Masur was born on July 11, 1927 in Brzeg, Poland, becoming the music director of the Philharmonic when Leonard Bernstein died in 1991.
He led the Philharmonic until retiring in 2002, conducting 909 performances with the orchestra in total, including guest appearances starting in 1981 and ending in 2012.
Under his direction, the Philharmonic made 17 world tours, visiting 75 cities and 30 countries.

FISHKILL, N.Y. – June M. Feilen, of Fishkill, died on Dec. 14. She was 81.
Feilen was born on March 27, 1934 in New York City to Walter and Mildred Balunas Mack, graduating from Walton High School in 1951.
She worked as a secretary at Castle Point, Texaco Research Center, and New York State Children’s and Family Services.

Kevin F. McGuire, 54, Of Pearl River
PEARL RIVER, N.Y. – Kevin F. McGuire, of Pearl River, died Tuesday, Dec. 15 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 54.
McGuire was born Nov. 12, 1961, to Francis and Barbara McGuire. He owned Troy Com in Pearl River.
He was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by his wife Elenore and three children, Ed of Rochester and Billy and Kylie.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Helen Mary Miller, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died Dec. 14 at the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center. She was 61.
Miller was born Dec. 14, 1954, in Poughkeepsie, to Joseph G. LeClair Sr. and Helen Ann McGrath, graduating from Poughkeepsie High School, Dutchess Community College and Marist College.
She worked as a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service in Poughkeepsie for 25 years until her retirement.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Helju Roosevelt Stafford, of Poughkeepsie, died Dec. 13 at home. He was 62.
Stafford was born July 28, 1953, in Poughkeepsie, to Roosevelt and Mary Alice McClinton Stafford, working for the Dutton Lumber Company and Poughkeepsie Dye Company until he became disabled in 1985.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Dean McClinton and Eldred Stafford, and grandparents Henry and Mary Ann McClinton.
